As a nonprofit agency, YES’ mission is to enrich the lives of inner city youth and strengthen their families by offering outdoor camps, cultural activities, and community-based programming. www.yes.org Position Description YES seeks an Americorps *VISTA volunteer who is motivated, outgoing, and committed to furthering the mission and goals of the agency. The VISTA volunteer will work both on and off site assisting program associates with all facets of summer and Family Camp programming. He/she will also assist the Executive Director with administrative tasks, organizational and program development, fundraising activities, and Board support. Specific Duties and Responsibilities • For summer and Family Camp, assist program associates with: o recruitment and registration of camp participants at schools and other community agencies o on site coordination of bus pick up and drop off times o data entry o training volunteers o designing and implementing camp activities o conducting evaluations and follow up with participants • Support Board of Directors by: o taking minutes at monthly meetings o assisting with fundraising activities such as the annual dinner in June, end-of-year donor letter, and outreach to individual donors o assisting with marketing and board development efforts • Assist Executive Director and program associates with: o planning and organizational development o administrative tasks and general office support o general research • Participate in community meetings and events with YES partners Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills • Completion of undergraduate degree or higher • Experience working with large groups of youth and families from diverse backgrounds • Self-starter with ability to work independently and as part of a team • Strong writing, public speaking, and organizational skills • Ability to multi-task and solve problems as they arise • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email communication • Appreciation of the outdoors and experience in natural settings • Willingness to have flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends • Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred • Knowledge of Richmond and surrounding West Contra Costa County preferred • Must have own transportation • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. of weight Must be 21 years of age or older Compensation: AmeriCorps*VISTA Living Allowance -- $423/two weeks Ad provided by Idealist.org |
